Welcome to the Indiana Foreclosure Prevention Network’s website
This website was created to provide thousands of Hoosiers who may be facing foreclosure
access to
free and unbiased information and confidential counseling. The website is part of a
statewide initiative designed to assist Hoosiers who are in danger of losing their
homes. The Indiana Foreclosure Prevention Initiative was developed by a coalition
of community organizations, housing-related agencies, government agencies, lenders
and banks, known as the Indiana Foreclosure Prevention Network (IFPN). Through this
unique partnership of the public, private and nonprofit sectors, a toll-free helpline,
1-877-GET-HOPE and this website were established.
NEW LEGISLATION IMPACTS FORECLOSURE IN INDIANA
Effective on July 1, 2009, troubled borrowers must receive two notices from their mortgage lender. The first notice informs homeowners that they are in default on their mortgage and if they continue in default for 30 more days, the lender may initiate a foreclosure on the property. The second notice is sent to homeowners when the lender files a foreclosure claim with the court. It informs homeowners that they may be entitled to a court-ordered settlement conference during which an agreement to avert the foreclosure may be reached.
